Life is cheaper than taxes.
30 minutes of rain,
Inflicting endless pain.
As they came to the city, far from home,
These streets became their catacomb.
Drowned aspirations of a nation
We rise up in demands for abdication.
Life is cheaper than taxes.
But those responsible are shielded from our axes.
Life is cheaper than taxes.
Roofs come crashing down,
Stealing fathers,
Trying to make a living
Leaving holes larger than any crown,
Which lack filling.
In that the children,
And our streets have something akin,
Life is cheaper than taxes in this City of Djinns.
Life is cheaper than taxes.
We pay what is due,
For the benefit of a few,
As we wade through,
The roads are gridlocked
Overflowing drains and open manholes,
It's clear we are being mocked.
We pay our share and it’s hardly fair,
But as long as life is cheaper than taxes,
All we have are wishes and prayer.
